Description:

Position Overview:
We are seeking two (2) experienced Commissioning Field Supervisors to support commissioning activities on high-voltage (HV) substation equipment for an HVDC project. This is a critical night shift role requiring strong technical skills, independence, and the ability to interface directly with HVDC control systems and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform commissioning and testing on HV substation equipment including:
Transformers (Power and Current)
Circuit Breakers
Voltage Dividers
LVS and MVS systems
Disconnectors
Earthing Switches
Capacitor Voltage Transformers (CVTs)
Battery Chargers
Support interface activities between LVS/MVS and the HVDC control system
Execute field testing primarily using Omicron and/or DOBLE equipment
Follow project plans and schedules, ensuring timely execution of deliverables
Maintain compliance with site-specific safety and fatigue rules
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during outage and site meetings
Represent the supplier as a primary contact on the night shift, supporting supplier action item resolution

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)
Minimum 3 5 years of hands-on experience in commissioning roles for High Voltage Substations
Solid understanding of secondary side operations and protection systems in HV substations
Experience working on 15kV AC and 125V DC systems
Familiarity with equipment used by U.S. utility companies (e.g., ICMP or equivalent)
Proven experience using Omicron or DOBLE testing equipment
Has performed maintenance tasks on low and high voltage switchgear (LVS and MVS).
Shall be trained in the use, application and removal of locks and tags and the hazards associated with the work including the required PPE to be considered during the Lockout/Tagout application.
An understanding of the construction and operation of electrical equipment (i.e., how to determine what is and what can become energized), the hazards involved and how personnel can be protected from the hazards.
Fundamental knowledge of the appropriate protection boundaries (shock and arc-flash) and the selection of the proper PPE for entering these boundaries.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single and three-line diagrams, control, wiring, and layout diagrams, and schematics.
Has installed and removed temporary protective grounding and knows how to calculate the bolted fault current to size the grounding conductors.
Understand the requirements and the processes for isolation and lockout/tagout and elements of an electrical permit to work.
Has a thorough understanding of the different types of electrical testing and how test equipment can energize other parts of the electrical equipment and system.
An understanding of the requirement to ensure test equipment, including enduring voltage detection devices are functionally operational prior to and immediately after verifying the absence of voltage via Live Dead Live and the importance of testing before touching.

Preferred Background:
Prior experience with electrical utilities or EPC companies in HVDC or HV substation commissioning projects
Strong familiarity with outage-based commissioning and tight project schedules
Knowledge of fatigue compliance policies on field assignments
