Quantum is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a solid background in 3D CAD design and a passion for electromechanical systems. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer ready to take ownership of detailed mechanical design and system-level engineering responsibilities.

Quantum designs and develops 100% of our tape library systems in-house using a tight-knit, co-located team based in Centennial, Colorado. Our prototype and qualification lab is located alongside our design group, creating a unique hands-on development environment from concept through production release.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze mechanical assemblies, systems, and complex enclosures for data storage automation products.
  • Use Pro-Engineer CREO and PDMLink for 3D CAD modeling of new and existing parts, including molded plastics, sheet metal, and machined components.
  • Contribute to both sustaining engineering of mature products and new product development
  • Participate in system-level engineering efforts involving mechanical, electrical, and control software integration.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize parts for cost, manufacturability, and quality , and to support sourcing continuity.
  • Initiate and manage engineering change orders using Agile PDM to maintain design control and documentation accuracy.
  • Lead or participate in design verification testing , product validation, and issue resolution across the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineering to resolve yield, quality, and assembly issues on the production line.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners, distilling complex technical information for broader audiences.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical design and product development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD design , with recent experience using the software weekly.
  • Product development background in mechatronics , automation , robotics , or electromechanical systems such as copiers, printers, or tape libraries.
  • Familiarity with PCB design principles and integration into mechanical assemblies is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) for plastics, sheet metal, and machined components.
  • Must be on-site in Centennial, CO 5 days/week due to the hands-on nature of our hardware development work.

Anticipated Salary Range: $65,000 TO $95,000 for qualified applicants.

The above pay range represents Quantum's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Pay within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge/education, skills/abilities, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
