Haag, a Salas O’Brien company and a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking an experienced Building Consultant who can reasonably drive to sites in New York City Metro, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania. Our Consultant will conduct field inspections, determine extent of damages, provide cost estimates and perform litigation services. Inspections may include but are not limited to damaged roofs, foundations, and various other damaged or collapsed structural elements, and damages to buildings caused by severe weather, hail, flooding, earthquakes, fires, explosions, construction defects, and other natural and manmade causes. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have 7 + years of experience performing commercial, industrial, institutional and residential building inspections.
• Must have 7 + years of experience cost estimating repairs for damages caused by environmental conditions, construction defects, material/structural defects, and ground movements.
• The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of expertise in mid-to-large loss commercial, industrial, institutional and residential property restoration (as contractor or consultant).
• Technical proficiency with Xactimate is required. Proficiency with Symbility, RS Means and Blue Beam is preferred. Proficiency with MS Excel is highly desired.
• Must have a strong understanding of the insurance industry, including working with insurance adjusters and preparing repair/restoration estimates and ROMs.
• A background in providing litigation support (deposition, arbitration. and/or trial) is preferred.
• Travel (primarily local and regional) by vehicle or by plane is required. About 25% of travel is overnight. Occasional extended travel may be necessary for CAT events, etc.
• Must have the ability to work in the field, often under extreme conditions.
• Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including working in confined spaces and on roofs. Carrying ladders and operating other pieces of field equipment are essential functions of the job. • Experience with setting up, calibrating, and operating various technological equipment is necessary.
• Commercial General Contractor (CGC) License is preferred.
• Insurance related training and certifications such as IICRC, RRO, Adjuster License, Xactimate training, etc. are highly desired.
• Must be able to work independently and with a cross-functional team of experts.
• Must have strong writing skills are required. A redacted work sample will be requested.
• Must have strong verbal communication skills including in group meetings.
• The ability to provide the utmost in customer service to our clients is expected of all Haag professionals.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or any legal restrictions.
EDUCATION:
• A HS Diploma or GED is required. An A.S. or B.S. degree in a related field is preferred, but a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Industry related training and certifications such as IICRC, RRO, General Contractor License, Adjuster License, Xactimate training, etc., are highly desired. Additional training may be provided as needed or desired. The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 per year. In addition to the base pay there is quarterly incentive starting immediately and other potential bonuses that can range from zero to $20,000 per year.
