Overview

D341 is seeking a motivated candidate to serve as the Engineering Supervisor of the Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Engineering Supplier Support group within the Welding and NDT Engineering organization supporting the Supply Base. This high visibility position is responsible for developing and leading a team of Engineers dedicated to providing technical guidance and support in Supplier NDT program oversight, bounding, improvements, and problem resolution efforts. This team works closely with the NDTE Supplier Oversight team in providing both Suppliers and internal Stakeholders comprehensive technical deliverables.

Primary areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily oversight, coordination, and prioritization of work for the team
  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions to mitigate risk associated with NDT being conducted in the supply base
  • Deploy Engineers to Suppliers for assessments, oversight, problem resolution, and long term assignments as necessary
  • Continuous collaboration with key stakeholders across the QA organization to establish strategy and reach alignment
  • Provide NDT Engineering expertise to EB Program Office, Suppliers, EB Engineering, EB Supplier Quality, EB Quality Assurance Engineering, EB Purchasing, EB Operations, EB COLUMBIA Program Office, EBVIRGINIA Program Office, Newport News Shipbuilding, SUPSHIP Groton, and NAVSEA as required
  • Plan and assign work, track progress and ensure timely completion of work and projects within budgeted hours.
  • Provide training and develop direct report employees to meet department short and long term objectives.
  • Support the department with various additional tasking for general welding and NDT related items supporting the Supply Base as necessary
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of relative experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Active Secret Clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering, Business, or Project Management
  • Previous Welding and/or NDT Engineering experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Experience with managing enterprise projects or initiatives
Skills
  • Ability to successfully work with all levels of EB Management, Navy Leadership, and Suppliers
  • Familiarity with Welding Fabrication Specifications (Tech Pub 1688, Tech Pub 278)
  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Methods and Specifications (Tech Pub 271, MIL-STD-2035)
  • Understanding of Ships Certification Processes and EB Business Systems
