Herzog Railroad Services, Inc. is currently seeking an Operator – Press Brake in St. Joseph, MO to join our team.
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for safely and accurately operating press brake equipment, with preference for experience on Trumpf press brake systems. This position also performs general fabrication shop duties, including grinding, deburring, material handling, and first article inspection, ensuring quality and efficiency in daily operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Set up, operate, and adjust press brake equipment (Trumpf preferred) to bend, form, and fabricate metal components according to specifications.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform first article inspections and verify parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Perform grinding, deburring, and finishing operations on fabricated parts.
- Safely handle raw materials and finished products using forklifts, cranes, and other shop equipment.
- Maintain tooling, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Support other fabrication processes as needed, including cutting, drilling, and assembly.
- Accurately complete production documentation and quality records.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of press brake operating experience preferred (Trumpf equipment experience highly desired).
- Familiarity with fabrication processes, material handling equipment, and shop safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use basic measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.).
- Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Quality-focused with a commitment to meeting production goals.
- Willingness to cross-train and support other fabrication shop functions.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds overhead; occasionally carry weight up to 75 pounds up to 10 feet.
- Regularly push-pull with forces up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly use hands to perform activities involving grasping, turning, holding with forces up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly ascend and descend steps with a height of 28 inches carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly ascend and descend a 7-rung ladder while carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Frequently bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
- Able to walk and work on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances while maintaining balance.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
