AS A NETWORK & CABLE TECHNICIAN, YOU CAN EXPECT TO HAVE THESE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support WAN, LAN, and wireless network infrastructure. Preferably Aruba WAPs/controllers
- Install well-functioning computer networks, connections and cabling
- Install/remove network devices at the site
- Install, test, cabling supporting building infrastructure, including datacenters
- Provides diagnosis and problem resolutions of network issues
- Understand, implement and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills of network related incidents (link outages, peer outages, router/switch hardware failures, multicast and broadcast issues, network performance issues)
- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date asset inventory database
- Install/maintain Cisco/Arista switches
- Support installing/decommissioning of datacenter servers
- Cable installation and testing of Category 5e, Category 6 cabling to comply with ANSI/TIA/standards
- Ability to install/make/test/terminate network cabling to network patch panels, 110 blocks and data jacks
- Familiar with test equipment: Fluke cable testers, Net Tool, Tone & probe, power drill/driver, RJ45 crimper, Punch down, wire wrap tool
- IP phone configuration and deployment
- Provides diagnosis and problem resolution of general connectivity related issues
TO BE SUCCESSFUL, YOU'LL NEED EXPERIENCE SUCH AS:
- Knowledge of networking hardware and software, specifically CISCO / ARISTA, required
- Ability to install/test network cabling to network patch panels
- Able to work at various heights using ladders or overhead lifts
- Knowledge of installation, and testing fiber connectivity within the datacenter and building infrastructure
- Configure and modify CISCO / ARISTA switches
- Provision Aruba WAP to wireless controller
- Ability to understand, create and maintain network maps and documentation.
- Must have the ability to interpret technical information and present it effectively both verbally and in-writing to a wide variety of audiences
- Familiar with Lenovo/Dell server platforms
- Requires high school diploma (or GED or high school equivalence certificate) and 5+ years of experience - OR - an associate degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant network experience
- Successful completion of CISCO Networking Academy curriculum and/or CCNA certification is strongly preferred
- Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Possesses a solid working knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
- Ability to install/make/test/terminate network cabling to network patch panels, 110 blocks and data jacks
- Ability to understand, create and maintain cabling maps and documentation
- Knowledge of Intermediate Distribution Facility (IDF) Main Distribution Facility (MDF) rooms
- Knowledge of structured cabling system that includes both copper and fiber
- Knowledge of phone system wiring, and termination preferred
- Knowledge of installation, and testing fiber connectivity within the datacenter and building infrastructure
- Software skills: Microsoft Office
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Physical requirements include walking long distances, prolonged periods of sitting/standing, ability to lift and install equipment (up to 75 lbs with assistance), physical activity and motion to include pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, and bending frequently, climbing stairs and tall ladders
Must have a valid driver's license, private transportation, and current automobile insurance
This position may require travel and transport of company assets to different office locations
