Position Summary:

The Field Engineer I will contribute to the management of overall project performance and assist in identifying potential stakeholder conflicts. They are responsible for communicating project risks to the PM as they arise and assisting in the development of appropriate risk mitigation steps. This role contributes to the management of overall project performance.

Additionally, the Field Engineer I aids in ensuring that team goals, roles, protocols, and business relationships are consistent with high-performance requirements and congruent with the company's strategy. The ideal candidate will lead by example in an environment that fosters trust and candor, will maintain personal accountability, and will communicate assertively and constructively.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and report field data related to construction progress, resource usage, and production metrics.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports, customer deliverables, and field documentation.
  • Communicate field issues, delays, and risks to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and utility industry standards.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure performance meets quality, schedule, and contract requirements.
  • Assist in planning construction activities, tracking progress, and updating schedules using project management tools.
  • Support permitting processes and interact with local agencies as required.
  • Serve as a liaison between field crews, project management, and engineering teams.
  • Identify and escalate any deviations in scope, cost, or schedule that may affect project performance or client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 6 months to 2 years of experience as a Field Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management , or a related field preferred.

  • In lieu of a degree, at least 4 years of relevant utility construction or field engineering experience is acceptable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , Project , Primavera , or similar scheduling/reporting software.

  • Experience working on electric, gas, or water utility infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of safety practices, environmental compliance, and permitting requirements.

  • Must be willing to travel to various project sites and work extended hours when needed.

Wage Range:
$60,300 - $90,400/hour, DOE
