Your Opportunity
We are looking for Structural Designer to support our building condition assessment, building design and rehabilitation projects. The Structural Designer will work under direct supervision of a Senior Engineer/Team Leader to assist on condition assessment of existing structures, design and various other structural engineering tasks.
A Structural Designer will perform a variety of tasks which may include field inspections, documentation and reporting, and assisting with development of contract documents for transportation facilities, schools, subway structures, and public spaces. Your Key Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks on assigned projects, including field work and design work as directed by a senior engineer/designer.
Assist a team of engineers in the condition assessment of transportation, building, school, and commercial structures.
Assist in the development of technical reports including inspection findings and repair recommendations.
Assist a team in preparing construction contract documents, project proposals, change orders, plans, and reports.
Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
Perform basic calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
Attend and assist in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client's goals.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
General understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design.
Proficient in AutoCAD and any other relevant design software.
Knowledge of calculations performed by software.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team.
Working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts.
Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others.
Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures.
Willingness to perform field work including close-up inspections from lifts and bucket trucks.
Attention to detail with focus on accuracy and thoroughness in inspections and reporting.
Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field and working toward licensure.
1-2 years of experience in the structural engineering with portion focused on inspections and assessments. Experience with design of transportation structures is a plus.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
- Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - Min Salary $ 82,900.00 - Max Salary $ 116,000.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
