DEFINITION
The Print Room Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Districts print services, ensuring the timely and high-quality production of printed materials to support schools, departments, and district initiatives. This role manages print production schedules, maintains equipment, and works closely with staff to meet reprographic needs with a focus on service, efficiency, and innovation.

Receives general directions from the Business Office Director
Exercise direct supervision over clerical staff.

Essential Functions :
Leadership & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations of the print room, including scheduling, staff assignments, and quality control.
- Provide hands-on leadership by reviewing work, offering guidance, and participating in daily tasks when needed.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance; foster a collaborative and service-oriented work environment.
- Collaborate with departments to understand print needs and ensure timely project completion.
- Develop and manage printing schedules and workflows to ensure efficient use of resources and timely output.
- Monitor and refine procedures to improve service delivery and production quality.
- Recommend changes to operational policies and implement best practices in print production and reprographics.
- Stay current with industry trends and recommend new technologies or methods to enhance operations.
- Operate and maintain commercial printing equipment including but not limited to: one and two-color offset presses, digital printers, laminators, cutters, and bindery machines.
- Design and layout printed materials; prepare files and graphics for production.
- Estimate materials, labor, and timelines for a variety of printing projects.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Assist in developing and managing the print room budget; monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Prepare operational reports, usage data, and cost analyses for leadership review.
- Make efficiency recommendations, including but not limited to new technologies or printing techniques
Knowledge of:
- Print shop operations and industry standards, including digital and offset printing.
- Graphic layout and design tools and techniques.
- Print production scheduling and cost estimation.
- Safe use and maintenance of reprographic equipment.
- Principles of supervision, performance management, and staff development.
- Relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to printing services in a public agency.
- Lead and support staff in a fast-paced production environment.
- Communicate effectively with internal clients and staff, both verbally and in writing.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform preventative maintenance on complex print equipment.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain strong working relationships across departments.
Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in offset or digital print production, including at least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional training or certification in print production, graphic design, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and operate heavy equipment safely.
- Work requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to see, hear, and communicate clearly to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After hour work may be required.
