POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Overview:

Liquid Environmental Solutions is a leading provider of environmentally responsible services for the removal of non-hazardous liquid waste. In this role, you will serve as the highest-level skilled plumber, possessing expertise in all aspects of plumbing, including design, installation, maintenance, and repair of complex systems. You will manage projects, mentor Plumber I (Apprentice Plumbers) and Plumber II (Journeyman Plumbers), and ensure compliance with plumbing codes and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of local jurisdictional plumbing codes, safety regulations, and the ability to work independently or lead a team.

Essential Functions

Installation and Repair:

  • Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, and equipment.

Design and Planning:

  • Design and plan plumbing systems for new construction and renovations, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.

Project Management:

  • Oversee plumbing projects, coordinate with other professionals, and manage budgets and timelines.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

  • Identify and resolve complex plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, and malfunctions.

Training and Mentorship:

  • Mentor Level I / Apprentice and Level II / Journeyman Plumbers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of excellence.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all plumbing work is performed safely and in compliance with local and national codes and regulations.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct inspections to ensure the quality of work performed by others and maintain high standards of craftsmanship.

Customer Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively with clients, and address their concerns.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep understanding of local, state, and national plumbing codes (e.g., IPC, UPC).
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and plumbing schematics.
  • Knowledge of water distribution, pressure systems, and backflow prevention.
  • Expertise in sanitary drainage, venting, and sewage systems.
  • Understanding of gas line installation and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with boilers, water heaters, and radiant heating systems.
  • Insight into how plumbing integrates with other building systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and eco-friendly plumbing practices.
  • Proficient in installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems.
  • Skilled in joining pipes using various techniques (soldering, welding, etc.).
  • Accurate cutting, threading, and fitting of pipes.
  • Efficiently diagnose complex plumbing issues.
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Planning and overseeing plumbing projects from start to finish.
  • Leading and mentoring apprentices and journeymen.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and contractors.
  • Preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an Apprenticeship Program (typically 4-5 years).
  • Plumber II (Journeyman Plumber) License / Certification (usually requires 4,000-8,000 hours of experience).
  • Experience as a Plumber II (Journeyman Plumber) (1-5 years depending on the state).
  • Plumber III (Master Plumber) License / Certification (by passing a state-recognized exam).

Working Environment:

  • Both indoor and outdoor in various weather conditions.
  • May involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Use of protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and hard hats may be required.
