CTR Group is seeking a Pump and Valve Mechanic (1st to 4th class) local to the Norfolk, VA area. Immediate openings and urgently hiring!

RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
All journeyperson should have an assortment of combination wrenches, socket sets, adjustable wrenches, socket sets, adjustable wrenches, hammers-ball pean and flat head, screw drivers, vice grips, 6' scale, slip joint pliers, wire pliers, allen wrenches.
The Inside Machinist Pumps J4 is responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications, safety, with the highest quality, in a professional manner.
Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job.
Typically has a High School diploma or equivalent plus 5 (five) years minimum directly related experience in a Shipyard Environment.
Must meet all Journeyman Pump Machinist 3 requirements.
Must be able to work on any equipment shown below with no supervision: Close coupled pumps, Reciprocating pumps, Valve pumps, Rotary pumps, Gear pumps, Circulating pumps and Vacuum pumps with supervision.
Must be able to oversee a small group of people and lead the job from start to finish via work specification and EPCP/PCP/CWP.
Must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize well and handle problems and concerns without assistance.
Proficient with the requirements of the process and the equipment used.
Proficient with the requirements of the applicable OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items.
Must know how to set up a job and correspond with other shops.
Must be able to understand and submit CFR's with dimensional information.
Be able to track orders for parts and identify parts.
Read and use tech manual and blueprints.
Must be able to furnish sizes and clearances and recommendation for repairs to the supervisor.
Set up and operations of conventional and special-purpose machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete pumps with little supervision.
Required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades' tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc.
Must be able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas and requires extended periods of standing and walking (75%).
Inspections and work may require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding and observing co-workers using tools and equipment.
Lifting/carrying tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs. on frequent basis. Standing, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, eye/hand/foot coordination, seeing, hearing required.
Selecting appropriate tools for jobs, as per trade classification.
Works in tight, confined workspaces on board ship and is exposed to varied temperatures, wind, wet and humid conditions, fumes, odors and dust, vibrations from ship and hand tools.
Assists in machining and assembly of components in accordance with drawings, specifications and meet Navy standard requirements, with little supervision
Ensure that WAF ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished.
Must ensure that no work will be accomplished without a WAF posted at location of repairs.
Ensure that any other safety issues are complied with that relate to the specific job being accomplished (ex., special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work related jobs, breathing apparatus with correct cartridges, etc.)
Ensure training for/qualified for the work assigned to do (ex., JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, special electrical/mechanical repairs, etc.)
Ensure that job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure
Journeyperson 1:
Should be able to work on any equipment shown below with close supervision.
Experience in the overhaul and testing of all the following:
Close coupled pumps
Reciprocating pumps
Valve pumps
Rotary pumps
Gear pumps
Circulating pumps
Vacuum pumps
Journeyperson 2:
Should be able to work on any equipment shown below with supervision.
Should have acquired pump specific tools.
Read dial indicator and other precision measurement tools.
Journeyperson 3:
Should be able to work on any equipment shown below with very little supervision.
Should have vast selection of pump specific tools to include calipers, indicators and micrometers.
They should be able to identify parts, read and use tech manual and blueprints.
Journeyperson 4:
Should be able to work on any equipment shown below.
Able to understand and submit CFR's with dimensional information.
Be able to track orders for parts and identify parts.
Read and use tech manual and blueprints.
They should be able to furnish sizes and clearances and recommendation for repairs to the supervisor.
