Job Description

Why this role matters

Our Solutions Engineering team moves fast—designing wired, wireless, security and IoT solutions for hundreds of Mid-Atlantic clients. Great engineering starts with great drawings, and today those drawings are our bottleneck. We’re creating a new position for a drafter who can own all network, low-voltage, and building-electronics diagrams—freeing engineers to innovate while you turn concepts into crisp, client-ready deliverables.

What you’ll do

  • Translate engineers’ sketches, redlines, and bills-of-material into detailed network topologies, rack elevations, cable runs, floor-plans and as-builts using Microsoft Visio or CAD
  • Produce drawing packages for proposals, construction, and record sets—complete with layers, title blocks, legends and BOM take-offs—on time and on budget.
  • Maintain our drawing library, naming conventions, and standards; drive continuous improvement of templates and symbols.
  • Collaborate daily with network, security, and AV engineers; occasionally survey job sites to verify field conditions.
  • Support RFP responses by generating quick-turn visuals that make complex designs easy to understand.

What success looks like

Within six months, proposal and construction drawings are hitting internal SLAs, engineers report a 25 % reduction in drafting time, and customers compliment the clarity of your diagrams.

Must-have qualifications

  • 2+ years creating network, low-voltage, or MEP drawings in Visio (or similar).
  • Solid grasp of structured cabling, patch panels, AP placement, CCTV, access control, and equipment-rack layout.
  • Ability to read engineering specs and convert them into accurate, scaled drawings with proper layers, blocks, and annotations.
  • Portfolio of at least three relevant drawing sets (PDF or DWG/VSD).
  • Strong naming/filing discipline and eye for detail; spreadsheets don’t scare you.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with ConnectWise, or other asset-tracking tools.
  • Low-voltage or BICSI certification (DD, RCDD).

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary: $62 000 – $85 000
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO from day 1
  • Work with a 90-person IT firm that’s been disrupting the industry for 20+ years and now leads in AI-driven solutions.
