How Youll Contribute

Showcase Your Engineering Mastery: Apply robust best practices in fundamentals and structured problem-solving to craft and validate components, subsystems, or products at the forefront of innovation. Lead the charge in conducting technical feasibility analyses for groundbreaking concepts and implementing cutting-edge process efficiency tools. Collaborate seamlessly with engineering peers to glean valuable insights, seek feedback, and engage in in-depth reviews, ensuring your technical work sets the gold standard in excellence. Elevate the entire product design team through coaching and the implementation of best practices

Foster Collaborative Success: Partner seamlessly with cross-functional teammates in Marketing, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Industrial Design. Tackle tough decisions head-on, leveraging diverse team perspectives to generate superior solutions. Propose actionable next steps and drive alignment with business leadership to launch top-quality products swiftly and consistently.

Leverage Global Talent: Engage, coach, and develop Centers of Excellence and Technical Centers worldwide, ensuring seamless project delivery and promoting parts reuse for maximum efficiency.

Contribute to our Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by evaluating designs to enhance product performance and process efficiency, while incorporating sustainability considerations where impactful. Collaborate with customers and industry leaders to uncover installation insights and prioritize opportunities for advancing quality and reliability.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain work plans, schedules and budgets for New Product Development and custom projects and present status of each to management.
  • Custom projects estimating
  • Ability to create, quote, and Source components for custom projects.
  • Manage product timelines and report out to internal and external stakeholders on progress.
  • Ability to communicate directly with internal and external customers in a clear professional manner during the development process.
  • Ensure functional excellence through the adept application of engineering tools, rigorous analysis, and thorough testing.
  • Craft detailed projects and technical plans for both product development and custom projects, collaborating seamlessly with other engineers, support teams, and external groups involved in product design, documentation, development, drafting, prototype construction, and testing of product concepts.
  • Share your experiences through documented insights, fostering knowledge-sharing within and beyond the department.
  • Be a catalyst for progress by contributing to the enhancement of products and processes.
  • Utilize CAD to bring your concepts and designs to life.
  • Engineer highly innovative or complex projects with little to no guidance. Utilize engineering tools to foster creative thought and problem solving techniques.
  • Optimize manufacturability, assembly, cost, and process considerations
  • Represent the team through occasional travel to engage with suppliers, customers, and industry events, as well as visits to Kohler locations, ensuring alignment and continuous learning opportunities.

Skills/Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • 4+ years of product development experience
  • Previous experience with new product design and existing product optimization preferred
  • Knowledge of lighting technology and IoT connectivity
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD; Solidworks or Creo preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Assumes responsibilities of all engineering project work and delegates or coordinates sub-tasks accordingly.
  • Hands on skills and ability to use standard shop tools preferred.
  • Must exhibit excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

This means youll have access to your applicable benefit programs from your first day on the job, with no waiting period. The salary range for this position is $89,800 - $114,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
