Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Mesa, Arizona
Job Purpose
Dynalectric-Arizona, a specialty contractor serving the electrical construction needs of our community, is stepping into a new space with the purpose of fabricating select product families entirely in house. We have purchased and are setting up various pieces of CNC equipment for our shop including routers, punches, lasers, press brakes, plate rolls, welders, and automated material storage systems. We are looking for an enthusiastic person, technically adept in SolidWorks, Mechanical Design and Fabrication process documentation, with the willingness to continuously learn and grow with Dynalectric. The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in streamlining, troubleshooting and standardizing our Fabrication Process and product design.
Objective
You will bring knowledge and experience to the Team, and you will be the lynchpin between Fabrication Process and customer Assembly documentation. We are running a very lean team and clean, precise documentation is integral to our success. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be working with the Virtual Construction Team, detailing the design with our products, assembling and creating designs to work within the VC design requirements. You will create fabrication and assembly documentation for our inside customers as well as our outside customers. You will be the gate keeper for the configuration control of all fabricated products and designs.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will have an intimate understanding and working knowledge of our products, fabrication best practices, and creating concise and consistent assembly documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities for a Mechanical Design Engineer at Dynalectric will include the following:
Cad Design and Drafting:
- Develop detailed assemblies from VC design criteria in SolidWorks.
- Create Detailed assembly process documentation.
- Create Manufacturing process documents.
- Ensure designs meet all industry design standards.
Quality Control:
- You will review VC designs to ensure they meet quality and design specifications.
- Submitting designs to customers for approval.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with VC and engineering teams to understand project requirements.
- Provide feedback on design feasibility and suggest improvements.
- Work with customer engineering to get approved designs.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Learning and Development:
- Stay updated with the latest CAD modeling techniques and technologies.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills.
- Show a willingness to learn and adapt to new designs and processes.
CAD Proficiency:
- Utilize SolidWorks (preferred) or Inventor for designing and modifying parts.
- Create detailed technical drawings and 3D models.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines of Dynalectric.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow with the company.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and shop layout.
- Proven implementation of DFMA and Lean principles a plus.
- Experience in active manufacturing facilities is preferred.
- Technical proficiency in use of computers, ERPs, and digital management platforms.
- Understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing industry.
- Ability to set long-term goals, communicate them to others, and pursue them to completion.
- Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
- Must have valid driver license/insurance and reliable transportation.
Working conditions
Mostly office and shop based. Typical working hours may vary but generally, Monday – Friday during normal business hours. When deadlines approach longer hours, including some weekend work, may be required. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.
Physical requirements
A Mechanical Design Engineer is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
