What you will do

The Planner/Scheduler II will collaborate with mill management, paper machines, extruders, shipping, sales, customer service and traffic to facilitate trimming and scheduling of all customer orders.

Production Unit Scheduling

Collaborate with manufacturing and Customer Service to assure superior customer service
Coordinate, trim and schedule all paperboard orders
Utilize trim program to set up runs, receive, monitor, and allocate blocks and orders
Determine profitable production sequencing on both board machines and extruders
Prepare and distribute daily machine schedules for paper machines, extruders, shipping, core cutters, rewinders, sheeters and traffic. Coordinate warehouse transfer of rolls as needed
Ensure orders meet Sales and Manufacturing Agreement guidelines, facilitate corrections and changes as needed
Assist production, mill management, sales and Customer Service employees with schedule and customer order status information

Process Improvements

Assist machines/extruders with production/operational issues by providing scheduling solutions to work around operational issues
Work to keep inventories under control by reapplying stock rolls to new orders and utilizing rewinder when possible
Provide weekly service data and deckle efficiency data

Special Projects

Collaborate with multiple departments during system upgrades and patches as needed by providing data and testing
Develop and lead process improvements within the scheduling group

On-Call Duty

On call weekends approximately 12-13 weekends annually
When operational limitations occur (day, night, weekend), discuss issues with production, evaluate schedule status and develop revised production schedule to ensure customer order needs are fulfilled
Collaborate with Customer Service Team to acquire, trim and distribute new production orders on weekends and evenings

What you will need

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Material Management or Operations Management
5+ years' experience in manufacturing, preferably with a production trim or cycle planning background
Proficient in MS office applications
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a professional manner and be able to handle multiple work tasks concurrently.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter, taking the initiative to evaluate and drive order fulfilment process improvements
Strong communication skills
Team player
Demonstrated understanding of the demand triggers in manufacturing and their interdependencies (sales, production, work orders)
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES)
Primarily office environment - some mental, visual and physical fatigue from computer terminal use
Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment in the manufacturing environment
Meticulous organization skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills
