- Plans, directs and coordinates assigned technical projects from conception and proposal through the completion of qualification testing and successful introduction into service
- Project level Design Authority for mechanical technologies
- Develop robust & manufacturable designs that meet performance, cost and schedule targets.
- Coordinates engineering analyses including structural and thermal FEA to validate designs
- Directs the production of prototypes and mock-ups/Engineering Development Units and conducts or oversees verification/margin testing to validate designs
- Works within a multi-discipline team including engineers, designers, technicians, program management and production staff to optimize utilization of time and resources
- Interfaces with customers regarding requirements & specifications of lighting products

Must have:
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other comparable discipline is required.
- Eight years' minimum relevant experience in a high technology manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
- Five years' experience with 3D modeling using Creo (Pro/E), CATIA, or similar 3D CAD package is required.
- Experience/Skill in electronic circuit packaging design and LED thermal management is required.
- Electromechanical product design experience including actuator design is required.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) design experience for environmental requirements certification per DO-160 standards including thermal, shock/vibration, moisture ingress, salt spray, and abuse loading is required.
- Experience with common aerospace product materials including aluminum, stainless steel, Ultem, PEEK, polycarbonate, and glass is required.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers to produce prototype parts & assure design cost/performance optimization is required.
- Ability to prepare proposals, & presentations for customers, in support of New Business Development is required.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills is required
