About Us:

Westinghouse NCM is a leader in manufacturing critical components for commercial nuclear power plants. Our Newington facility produces reactor vessel internals (RVIs), control rod drive mechanisms (CRDMs), and other specialized equipment for both new builds and operating plants worldwide.

About the role:

As a Principal Project Engineer you will lead complex manufacturing projects from contract award through final delivery. You will demand strategic oversight, technical leadership, and collaboration to ensure successful execution of fabrication, machining, and inspection activities. The Principal Project Engineer shall also serve as a mentor to less experienced engineers, encouraging technical growth and promoting engineering excellence across the team.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and be located at Newington, NH. You will support this role 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and plan high complexity manufacturing projects, ensuring agreement on contract requirements, technical specifications, and delivery schedules.

  • Interpret purchase orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to define and increase manufacturing processes.

  • Oversee the development of purchase requisitions for raw materials and components.

  • Create detailed manufacturing flow charts; support project controls in building production schedules.

  • Prepare and approve shop travelers to guide fabrication, machining, and inspection operations.

  • Collaborate with operations teams on fixture design, process optimization, and continuous improvement plans.

  • Facilitate pre-job briefings for critical manufacturing tasks.

  • Investigate and resolve complex non-conformances in collaboration with our teams and external customers.

  • Provide advanced technical support on the shop floor, ensuring resolution of issues and adherence to quality standards.

  • Mentor project engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges, project execution, and professional development.

  • Contribute to the development of engineering best practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in welding, machining, and non-destructive testing (NDT).

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing complex projects and mentoring engineering teams.

  • Expertise in interpretation of engineering drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
