Georgia Pacific Consumer Products Division is seeking qualified professionals for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer role to join our Plattsburgh, NY Tissue Mill team. The individual in this role will focus on implementing projects mill-wide and support the technical needs of the mill electrical and instrumentation maintenance team. Project management scope will include small and large projects, with large projects being implemented with the support of the corporate engineering group. Engineering work processes are followed using an established framework that includes concept, approval, design, installation, commissioning, and optimization phases. Maintenance group partnership will include technical and troubleshooting support of the mill electrical infrastructure and manufacturing assets.

What You Will Do

  • Support value drivers for the mill and the business focused on compliance, safety, quality, cost and schedule
  • Provide technical and engineering support to maintenance and operations employees to improve and optimize safety, quality and performance
  • Provide subject matter expertise to operations, maintenance and reliability teams
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance within the mill to include troubleshooting and planning of preventative maintenance
  • Assistant in identifying root causes with an emphasis on driving continuous improvement with asset and site reliability
  • Participate in conceptual development of projects with corporate and mill technical and operations teams, to include developing and evaluating alternatives, equipment, vendors and contractors. Produce, review and verify engineering design details to ensure compliance with standards and manufacturing requirements
  • Assist with and develop scope of work, deliverables, and project execution strategies

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, or in lieu of a degree, 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Experience in industrial electrical or control systems (ex. PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, instrumentation or power distribution)
  • Experience using and maintaining engineering and maintenance documentation using appropriate software systems

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Project management experience in forecasting, budgeting, project closeout
  • Knowledge and experience in the following industrial controls: Rockwell Studio 5000 PLCs and software, FactoryTalk View HMls and software, Rockwell Powerflex VF and Kinetix servo drives, DC drives, machine safety systems
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical power and distribution systems
  • Experience in interpreting and applying NFPA 70, 70E and OSHA requirements pertaining to electrical installations, maintenance and safe work practices

For this role, we anticipate paying $95k-125k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
