Construction Superintendent

Job Description

The Superintendent is responsible for apprising project management of the assigned projects progress, issues, and concerns. This role requires collaboration with subcontractors, suppliers, and company field personnel to mobilize and administer efforts throughout the life of the project. The Superintendent will control changes to the cost baseline and monitor cost performance to detect and understand variances. Additionally, they will maintain the projects schedule by determining appropriate resources, quantities, and availability to perform project activities. The role includes preparing three-week look-ahead and long lead item schedules, notifying management of events impacting the schedule, managing all aspects of subcontractors, providing direction for the close-out documents, and overseeing quality assurance activities for continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Apprise project management of assigned projects progress, issues, and concerns.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and company field personnel throughout the project.
  • Control changes to the cost baseline and monitor cost performance.
  • Maintain the project schedule by determining resources, quantities, and availability.
  • Prepare three-week look-ahead and long lead item schedules.
  • Notify management of events beyond control affecting the schedule.
  • Manage all aspects of subcontractors.
  • Provide direction for the close-out documents and obtain all certificates.
  • Conduct all final inspections prior to project close-out.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities for continuous process improvement.
  • Provide accurate invoicing and timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Provide direction to the Project Engineer regarding critical path items.
  • Implement applicable safety guidelines and adhere to company safety policy.
Essential Skills
  • Current OSHA 30 certification.
  • 10+ years of proven experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager.
  • Demonstration of job knowledge based on work experience and decision making.
  • Ability to identify problems, gather information, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Capability to meet goals while ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Competency to take independent actions and calculated risks.
  • Flexibility, organization, and detail orientation with efficient time management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management or similar field preferable.
  • Experience with Federal construction projects preferred.
  • Experience with industrial renovations of projects ranging from $10-20 million
Work Environment

The work environment involves working outdoors in extreme conditions such as cold, heat, and humidity on a regular daily basis. The Superintendent must be able to stand, climb, bend, and stoop regularly. A valid drivers license is required to operate a personal vehicle, and the role may involve traveling for temporary contract assignments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
