Job Title: Energy Project Manager

Job Description

The Energy Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects once they have been closed by the sales team. This role is crucial for ensuring a seamless installation experience for customers. The Energy Project Manager coordinates internal processes with various stakeholders, including homeowners, local permitting authorities, utilities, and internal personnel to complete installations efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Establish oneself as the main point of contact for the project during the onboarding process.
  • Review assessments, notes from sales technicians/service estimators, and client requests to create a comprehensive plan for installation.
  • Submit documentation to third-party drafting companies along with the installation plan to obtain accurate project documents and make necessary corrections.
  • Handle all permitting, inspection, and utility coordination required to complete the project.
  • Communicate with customers about installation timelines and alert them to any changes. Share installation documents and welcome packets to inform them of the installation plan and standards.
  • Finalize monitoring registration for the system post-installation and handle service claims from past clients.
  • Create job postings for projects to prepare crews via Slack. Advance and update projects in ClickUp.
  • Maintain training certifications for all products installed, including NABCEP PV Design Specialist certification.
  • Ensure customers understand installation aspects such as equipment locations, power outage durations, net metering timelines, and final payment timelines.
  • Review plan sets for accuracy, code compliance, and project-specific requirements.
  • Identify major equipment locations and create a rough outline for the installation process.
  • Gather all required documentation for net metering and permitting from customers and plan reviewers.
  • Communicate effectively with inspectors and plan reviewers to resolve disagreements on code interpretations.
  • Respond to customers within 2 business days and complete initial project reviews within 5 business days.
  • Ensure permits are pulled and issued 2 weeks in advance of project start dates and schedule utility shutdowns 1 month in advance.
  • Create job posts for projects 2 weeks before start dates and tag leads 1 week out for project review.
  • Ensure no issues with site access, readiness, or start times on installation days.
  • Coordinate inspections with homeowners for the day after installation or when installation wraps up.
  • Alert customers when inspections pass and inform them of final billing before sending the invoice.
  • Communicate project readiness for billing within 1 business day with clear details.
  • Update project due dates and statuses in ClickUp.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle and maintain one's own schedule while remaining calm in stressful situations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction management and project management.
  • Knowledge as a general contractor in energy efficiency, PV, EVS, and ESS technical fields.
  • Familiarity with permitting and utility approval processes.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience with an energy or solar installer preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential permitting and code compliance is advantageous.

Work Environment

The work environment is within a small office consisting of 10-11 people, with the company totaling 55 employees. This role offers the opportunity to support a company working in the renewable energy space, focusing on EV battery installations alongside high-end residential projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
