Francis Energy is a pioneer in the EV (Electric Vehicle) charging industry, having established the nation's first comprehensive statewide electric vehicle fast-charging network by installing more than 850 fast charging ports throughout the Country. Position Summary:
The Senior Electrical Estimator plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of Francis Energy's EV infrastructure projects. This individual is responsible for delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates, managing pre-construction activities, and collaborating across internal and external teams to ensure project scope, schedule, and budgets are clearly defined and achievable. This is a highly visible and strategic role that directly impacts project success and company growth.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze bid documents, drawings, and technical specifications; attend site visits and pre-bid meetings to accurately assess scope.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for utility coordination, including scheduling service upgrades, delivery timelines, and interfacing with Francis Energy's internal utility team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments prior to execution.
- Utilize project management tools and best practices to track scope, cost, schedule, and risk - ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts and support process optimization initiatives across estimation and project planning.
- Provide regular progress updates and reporting to project stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and generate complete cost estimates with a high level of accuracy.
- Source and secure quotes from subcontractors and vendors; perform comparative analysis to select the most viable partners.
- Build and manage project schedules and timelines in alignment with overall program goals.
- Maintain strong relationships with third-party estimators and industry partners to benchmark pricing and ensure project profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent technical diploma or trade certification with relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in commercial construction, utilities, or EV infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, project management principles, and industry best practices; PMP certification is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - with an ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in estimation and project management software tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
