WSP is currently initiating a search for On-Call Archaeologist Monitors and Field Surveying Technicians in Texas, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Field duties could also extend to surrounding states. This position will be an On-Call position.

Your Impact

  • Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering.
  • Help with all aspects of fieldwork, monitoring, data collection, inventory, analyses, and site form preparation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to keeping up-to-date in knowledge of current cultural resources management, and local, state, and Section 106 regulations and planning practices.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Analytical skills, and familiarity with research techniques, local/regional prehistoric and/or historic archaeology required.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the environmental planning and permitting field, completing environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance for a variety of projects relating to transportation, energy development, zoning, and tribal or federal land activities.
  • Knowledge of public and private sector requirements and practices for cultural resources surveys.
  • Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular work hours if needed.
  • Ability to navigate and collect data using GPS equipment.
  • Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Ability to perform pedestrian survey and carry up to 25 lbs. of personal gear and company equipment.
  • Ability to survey in hot, dry, wet, and cold conditions.
  • Ability to excavate and screen shovel test probes.
  • Experience identifying and analyzing a wide variety of archaeological materials from prehistoric and historic-period archaeological sites in the field.
  • Must Be willing to travel to a remote project location for up to 8-day rotations.
  • Must be able to pass a Fit for Duty Exam

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field.
  • Experience with ArcGIS or AGOL field maps software.
  • Familiarity with rules and regulations related to Section 106 of the Historic Preservation Act; and state and local environmental rules and regulations and related reporting requirements, such as Washington State Environmental Policy Act, Governor's Executive Order 21-02, and other local laws.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $28.13- $41.36 (All Locations)

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
