We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to enhance existing designs and develop new ones. You will be responsible for preparing 3D models for mechanical parts and providing technical support to clients. Your role will involve creating 3D models, engineering drawings for manufacturing with complete BOMs, and proposal drawings for customer approval. Additionally, you will develop prototypes and test new designs, occasionally traveling to customer manufacturing plants to gather information and liaise with manufacturing and design teams. Your expertise will be instrumental in the design of cutting tools for the pipe industry and tools used in the bending industry.
Responsibilities
+ Enhance existing designs and develop new ones.
+ Prepare 3D models for mechanical parts and provide technical support to clients.
+ Create 3D models, engineering drawings for manufacturing, and proposal drawings for customer approval.
+ Develop prototypes and test new designs.
+ Occasionally travel to customer manufacturing plants to gather information and liaise with teams.
+ Design cutting tools for the pipe industry including special inserts and tool holders.
+ Design tools for the bending industry such as bending dies and mandrels.
+ Identify issues with tooling and piping.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD 3D (preferably Inventor).
+ Experience in metal cutting, fixture design, and metal bending.
+ Bachelors degree in engineering.
+ 3+ years of machine tooling/design experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in milling and turning.
+ Knowledge in metal holding, fixturing, or piping.
Work Environment
The position offers a dynamic and design-focused work environment where new ideas are encouraged. You will primarily spend your time designing, but must be open to hands-on work and occasional travel (10% travel). There is some work-from-home flexibility (1-2 days a week once acclimated). The office-style environment is complemented by an unused manufacturing facility attached to the building, and you will be expected to work with the manufacturing teams during customer site visits. You will join a team of six engineers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $41.00/hr.
