Job Description:
Perform assigned duties as an HVAC Technician. Duties will include HVAC systems, utilities' system, fire alarm systems, sewage lift stations and gas-fired equipment. Maintain and operate all assigned equipment or systems. Perform other assigned duties as directed.
The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission.
Responsible for maintaining HVAC systems, utilities system, fire alarm systems, sewage lift stations and gas-fired equipment.
Check operating requirements of equipment, records, logs and other required data.
Make rounds of all equipment rooms, checking each unit for proper operation and condition.
Perform maintenance and operation tasks as scheduled.
Maintain proper records and logs of all equipment, conditions and events in areas of responsibility.
Maintain and check conditions of cooling tower(s) and closed loop water systems.
Chemically treat systems to maintain PH within specifications.
Perform required checks and inspections of all equipment on campus.
When an emergency exists with equipment or systems such as water, power, gas and fire alarm, or other areas maintained by the Physical Plant, remain on campus until conditions are corrected or until released by the proper authorities.
As a part of the college's risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training is required.
Perform other assigned duties as directed.
EMERGENCIES
When any emergency exists with equipment or systems such as water, power, gas and fire alarm/or other areas maintained by Physical Plant, the Skilled Craftsman (HVAC) will remain on campus until conditions are corrected or released by the proper authorities.
When emergencies occur the Skill Craftsman (HVAC) will respond and cooperate when a message is received from the Director, Physical Plant, Supervisor of Plant Operations, Police Department or other persons in authority. They will report to campus, notify the guard or person who contacted them and try to resolve the problem on standby as stated in paragraph one (1) until someone can resolve the problems.

Requirements:
High School diploma or its equivalent
One (1) to four (4) years of documented relevant work experience
Vocational Certificate from a certified vocational school in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning or equivalent field experience required.
Field experience in large industrial centrifugal chillers, cooling towers and pumps preferred.
Must possess a natural aptitude for and a working knowledge of varied mechanical and electrical systems.
Leadership skills in personnel management and utilization of personnel preferred.
Ability to perform heavy industrial work, lifting a minimum of 35 lbs.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Employment is contingent on passing a physical.
