OUR OPENING Support the safe and successful execution of SFC Civil Construction projects under the guidance of more experienced Superintendents. Direct and coordinate field employee work to drive improvements, including environmental, safety compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs. Support the work process system to align and optimize the division by delivering valued products and services to the customer. Support team development and growth, employee skill development, problem solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership and holding employees accountable. what would you do as an assistant SUPERINTENDENT? Observe, learn, and take on increasing responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day civil construction operations. Understand and monitor project cost analysis and budgeting. Assist with planning and coordination of all labor, materials, & equipment required to complete a project. Organize the job site for material storage, equipment, and employee parking. Work closely and provide input to Superintendents and Project Managers to determine the project schedule. Monitor and direct field productivity to ensure work is completed in a cost effective and professional manner. Assist with maintaining site compliance for best management practices and erosion control. Coordinate with any inspections with both local government and independent testing agencies. Maintain daily reports of activities on the job site. Collaborate with safety team to maintain compliance with all established policies and guidelines. Engage in the development of a relationship-based safety culture by conducting weekly toolbox talks, safety meetings, and participating in the safety observation process. Identify conflicts in the construction process and communicate them to project team for resolution. Communicate with key leaders from several stakeholders of the project, including owners, designers, and subcontractors. This position will be required to maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential. EXPERINCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED Technical education and/or 3 years' work experience is required; or the combination of education to meet the essential job functions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications. Knowledge of location and use of all safety devices in area. Must be coordinated to perform job safely and quickly. Strong understanding of heavy equipment and maintenance. Must be able and willing to create and maintain a good working relationship with all employees within the team. Must have the ability to learn various PC-based production reporting systems applications. Knowledge of OSHA required safe work practices. Efficient use of Microsoft office product and computer-based maintenance systems. Good oral and written communication skills, interacts appropriately with others. Basic accounting knowledge. Good organizational/planning skills, forward thinking. Leadership abilities to influence others, teambuilding. Managing change, embraces new ideas, team player, disagrees constructively. Able to embrace Journey Group core values. Able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines. Able to think independently and problem solve. Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism. Possess a valid driver's license, safe driving record, and evidence of insurability is required. Class A / B CDL license and med card preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older to safely work in a construction environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to consistently move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces. Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently. Consistently works in outdoor weather conditions around 8-12 hours a day. Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally depending on the task. Must be able to transfer materials ranging from the ground to overhead consistently. Must be able to move material up to 50 lbs. frequently. Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.
