Job Description

Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with proven leadership skills and a devoted work ethic who is looking for a successful career and the opportunity to grow with a rapidly growing, successful, and well-established heavy civil infrastructure company in Connecticut. As a Project Manager, you will play a critical role in the overall leadership and successful and timely delivery of complex heavy-civil, highway, and bridge projects from pre-construction stage through project execution and completion. This is a full-time position for an individual working out of our Plantsville office in Connecticut. There is no remote option. Salary range will depend upon experience.

MARINE CONSTRUCTION WOULD BE NICE

Qualifications

Four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and relevant experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of documented experience in construction management in Heavy Civil Construction

Experience in Bridge Construction or Marine Construction preferred

Proficient with technical drawings systems and planning & reporting systems

Comprehensive understanding of construction industry practices and standards as well as experience with supervision, estimating, scheduling, budget preparation, and project status reporting

Ability to work with and manage unionized subcontractors

Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills

Goal-oriented with the ability to set and achieve goals

Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and persuade individuals at all organizational levels

Compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, or zoning for required work

Demonstrated logical written, verbal, and communication and presentation skills

Leadership qualities that include seeking and accepting responsibility and leading by example

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred experience with HCSS HeavyJob, P6, SmartBuild

Responsibilities

Ensure the project meets or exceeds financial objectives by overseeing and monitoring each development stage

Coordinate daily/weekly meetings with all area superintendents and project engineer to develop means and methods, schedule contracting needs, and manage long-lead delivery times

Manage all field operations and work sequencing in conjunction with the Project Manager

Review project estimates or plans to determine estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and resource allocation

Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections; review, approve, and negotiate change orders

Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delays in production

Establish work plans and staffing for each phase; collaborate with the Project Manager and HR team to manage staff and craft relationships

Form and lead an effective project management team, delegate responsibilities, and set goals

Resolve technical difficulties and other project-related problems

Communicate effectively with department leads regarding work scopes

Ensure that project superintendents execute work as required

Maintain safety, quality, and production standards

Oversee project closeout including paperwork, retainages, claim support, and loose end resolutions

Assist in the procurement, buy-out, and management of subcontractors, suppliers/vendors, ensuring quality scope of work is captured

Prepare and submit accurate Quality Control project status reports

Manage project submittals for timely receipt, review, and approval of documents, shop drawings, as-builts, etc.

Participate actively in the RFI process to ensure timely resolution and closeout

Monitor project work for non-compliance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented

Manage close-out activities including punch lists, commissioning, and system turnover
