Job Summary

An Electrical Foreman is a supervisory role responsible for leading a team of electricians and technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on construction sites, industrial facilities, or maintenance projects. This position ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while adhering to electrical codes and safety regulations. The foreman acts as a liaison between management, clients, and the team, providing technical guidance and enforcing quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of electricians, apprentices, and helpers, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to ensure compliance with project timelines and specifications.

Plan and layout electrical systems, including wiring diagrams, conduit systems, and panel locations; interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

Inspect work for quality, safety, and code compliance; identify hazards, defects, or needs for repairs and adjustments.

Troubleshoot electrical issues, test systems for continuity and functionality using tools like meters and testing equipment.

Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure all team members use personal protective equipment (PPE); maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and local regulations.

Manage materials, equipment, and inventory; prepare cost estimates, order supplies, and coordinate with vendors or contractors.

Train and mentor team members, evaluate performance, and provide feedback; handle personnel issues and promote professional development.

Communicate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders on progress, changes, or issues; prepare reports and documentation.

Oversee project budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies before work begins.

Complete daily reports to document work progress, issues encountered, and materials used.

Track and manage timekeeping for the team, ensuring accurate records of hours worked and tasks completed.

Set milestones for team completion of tasks, monitor progress, and adjust plans to meet project deadlines.

Requirements and Qualifications

Proven experience as an Electrical Foreman or in a similar supervisory role, typically 5+ years in electrical work.

Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes.

High school diploma or GED; associate degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.

Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and endure various weather conditions.

Skills

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with electrical tools, testing equipment, and software like Autodesk, Procore.

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of high-voltage systems, control panels, and safety practices.
