Electrical Apprentice

Summary:
The Electrical Apprentice will work alongside Electrical Journeyman building basic electrical skills and learning electrical concepts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools,
- Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets, using hand tools,
- Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools,
- Dig trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports,
- Strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering,
- Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings,
- Prepares work area for installation of electrical components,
- Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification,
- Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install components as shown,
- Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans,
- Must wear proper attire at all times including safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old,
- High school diploma or equivalency desired,
- Experience in the electrical field,
- Practical experience working with electrical systems and equipment,
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics,
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills,
- Must have a positive attitude and work ethic,
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions:
- Able and willing to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold,
- This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day,
- This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time,
- This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts),
- This job requires the ability to perform essential tasks in less than favorable job conditions,
- Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time,
- Exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
- Note: This position is considered Safety-Sensitive, and therefore subject to various schedule and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.
