Job Summary

Building Engineering Manager is responsible for day-to-day Building Engineering department operations. This position works with BE team members to ensure all key measures are achieved throughout the resort as well as can perform a variety of maintenance functions as necessary within the department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of department workflow and employees while meeting productivity and quality measures.
  • Participate in company training classes/courses and meetings as required.
  • Identify key tasks, procedures, materials and safety measures critical to completion of daily workflow, special projects and seasonal preventative maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance of documentation of maintenance actions taken is in compliance with departmental SOPs.
  • Inspect the work of BE Techs and Contractors to ensure work order was complete and meets specifications and standards.
  • Involved with employee hiring selection, coaching, training, documentation and ongoing communication of employee performance and staffing separations, etc .
  • Establish and maintain a schedule of maintenance staff members to ensure availability of necessary staff to handle guest check-in requests, daily work order demand, projects and preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor and approve staff hours, punches and time off requests on a daily basis.
  • Perform a variety of inspections, repairs and maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electric, a nd HVAC.
  • Review inspections and repairs of pool equipment such as filters, chlorinators, analyzers, pumps, a nd pool water are completed in accordance both w ith departmental and regulatory SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues then make recommendations for improvement.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Competencies:

  • Minimum (5) years of general maintenance experience with working knowledge of facilities maintenance including, but not limited to plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, and pool maintenance.
  • Able to read, comprehend and apply information from manuals and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of MIOSHA/OSHA rules and regulations and ability to apply concepts.
  • Able to write clear work orders, read and follow directions and clearly communicate.
  • Self-directed and able to maximize use of time, resources and technology.
  • Exemplifies professional conduct and adherence to company Core Values.

Education:

  • Associate degree or technical trade program course preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift over 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.
  • Must be able to lift, climb ladders, climb stairs, work on one’s feet and work at computer station occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, reach, twist and crawl.
  • Prior experience in building trades, facility management or hospitality industry desirable.
  • Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule which is subject to change as business needs and seasonal shifts occur.
  • Must have a valid Michigan insurable driver’s license.
  • Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
  • Pre-employment criminal background checks required.
