Project Manager/Sales - Fire Suppression Contractor

Location: Tinley Park IL

Reports To: Vice President

Department: Construction/Sales

Job Summary:

The Project Manager/Sales role is a dual-function position responsible for managing fire suppression projects from inception through completion and actively generating new business opportunities. This role involves overseeing project execution (sprinkler systems, fire pumps, special hazards, etc.), budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client relations, while also developing sales leads, preparing estimates, and closing new contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

Manage day-to-day operations of fire suppression projects (Contract, service, maintenance & inspection).

Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and assist with internal field staff.

Ensure compliance with NFPA codes, project specifications, and safety standards.

Monitor project progress, control costs, and resolve issues that arise.

Conduct project meetings and prepare regular status reports.

Ensure successful project close-out and turnover.

Maintain open lines of communication with the corporate office.

Maintain and implement Twin Lakes policies and processes

Sales & Business Development

Identify and pursue new business opportunities in commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.

Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, and engineers.

Prepare detailed proposals, estimates, and bid packages for fire suppression systems.

Conduct job walks and pre-bid meetings.

Negotiate and close new contracts to meet company revenue goals.

Maintain CRM records and sales pipeline tracking.

Qualifications:

Experience in Fire Protection Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.

Experience in fire suppression contracting, with at least 2 years in project management and/or sales.

Strong understanding of NFPA 13, 14, 20, and other applicable fire codes.

Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

Strong estimating and bid preparation skills.

Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Self-motivated with strong time management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with NICET in Water-Based Systems Layout or Inspection & Testing.

Experience with design-build or plan/spec projects.

Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or fire system design software.

OSHA 30 certification or PMP is a plus.
