As a Lift Station Supervisor based in Jackson, MS, youll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. In this role, you will supervise all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of City owned wastewater lift stations. Most importantly, youlltake actionto ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, schedules, and directs maintenance of a wide variety of specialized mechanical and electrical equipment.
Assigns, coordinates and supervises personnel and materials required in the maintenance and repair of City owned lift stations
Estimates cost and time for all aspects of maintenance, repair and construction work for all lift station related projects
Diagnoses malfunctions and determines effective courses of action for correcting them and can communicate this effectively to client, project management, and/or staff as needed.
Develops training modules, as well as training schedules for all industry specific staffing needs
Prepares rough sketches of maintenance, repair and construction jobs
Ensures the proper use and care of tools, materials, and safety equipment involved in maintenance and repair work
Has the ability and understanding to be able to effectively read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustrations to provide direction to staff to complete necessary work
Performs skilled mechanical repair work on lift stations of all types (submersible, half-can, deep-can, high prime) to include all equipment and its supporting equipment.
Consults with Project Director in planning workload, assignments, scheduling updates, training, and capital improvement projects
Tracks and provides reports for work projects in progress and at completion
Develops, implements, and enforces safety regulations and procedures
Keeps records of all maintenance work done on equipment, and prepares routine and special reports each month to Project Director as well as needed per request of client or Project Director
Assist in emergency response effort planning, staging, and execution (as needed)
Provides training to less experienced employees - training is to be safety and industry specific to employees position
Ability to work with all levels of staff, project management, as well as City staff in a effective, collaborative manor with the highest level of professionalism.
Performs other duties as assigned by Project Director or City client

Five years experience at a supervisory level
Experienced in the proper use of all equipment necessary to repair, replace, or maintain lift station equipment
Experienced in the principles of supervision and training, safety principles and practices, and related state and federal laws and regulations
Proficient in the use of computer software including, but not limited to Microsoft Office and Maintenance Connection
Possess and maintain a valid drivers license with no major infractions
Ideally, Youll Also Have:
Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to wastewater lift station operations, procedures, and troubleshooting
High school education or GED
Knowledge of the principles and practices of an effective mechanical, structural, and grounds preventive/predicative maintenance program as it pertains to pumps and motors of varying sizes and classes to include all supporting equipment
Intermediate electrical knowledge involved in working on pumps, motors, and other equipment; equipment, tools, and materials used in maintaining and repairing wastewater lift station equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
