Safety Manager
Job Role: The Safety Manager is responsible for driving safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. The Safety Manager will collaborate with manufacturing teams, senior leadership, and cross-functional departments to develop and implement safety strategies that reduce risks and promote operational excellence.
Key Duties:
- Develop, implement, and manage company safety programs including illness & injury prevention programs and employee training.
- Ensure full OSHA compliance and perform regular audits and inspections to maintain safety standards.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, ensuring corrective actions and preventative measures are taken.
- Develop and conduct safety training programs for manufacturing personnel.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify and mitigate risks within the manufacturing process.
- Oversee emergency response plans, including safety drills and preparedness.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations and leadership to integrate safety into daily operations and long-term plans.
- Track and report key safety metrics such as incident rates, near misses, and compliance status, providing regular updates to leadership.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas.
- Foster a proactive safety culture, engaging employees in safety initiatives and maintaining open communication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or the equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Familiarity with job hazard analyses (JHAs) and behavior-based safety programs.
- Experience with emergency preparedness and response planning.
Preferences:
- Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, OSHA 30) preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes.
- Familiarity with safety management software and incident reporting systems.
- 5+ years of experience in safety management within manufacturing, industrial refrigeration, or a similar environment.
- Experience in a manufacturing/fabrication/production environment highly preferred
- Knowledge of state and federal safety standards, including OSHA regulations
- Interest in mechanical systems, system optimization, process improvement or MEP construction
