GFL Environmental is looking for Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team in Toronto. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the facility and safe operation of equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Able to operate wheel loader, hydraulic excvavator, screening plant, rock truck, dozer and skidsteer to facilitate receiving, loading and processing of contaminated and clean soil
Operating the designated heavy equipment safely, and in line with GFLs policies and procedures
Performing daily inspection reports, before and after your shift
Stockpiling, screening and/or processing of soil as required
Loading incoming product into the screener and/or crusher
Loading outgoing materials with wheel loader and hydraulic excavator into dedicated highway trucks.
Adding compost and sand into the screening plant to create end product
Ensure all staff and sub-contractors operate in a safe conscious manner
Weigh trucks in/out as necessary
Maintain equipment and Facility
Make suggestion for revisions to Health and Safety and/or standard operating procedures and participate in regular Health and Safety (including tool box) meetings
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Site Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- 2+ years of Operating experience with Heavy Duty Equipment (skid steer, track loader, excavator, wheel loader, dozer etc)
- Work experience in the waste, recycling or environmental services industries an asset, however not a requirement
- Mechanical aptitude coupled with strong hand/eye coordination
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to multi-task & ability to prioritize tasks
- Responsible individual with positive attitude and sense of pride
- Customer service focused and supportive of co-workers
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Safety conscious
