Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

As the Distribution Center Supervisor, you will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of the logistics function within the Prysmian Houston location. You will be working very closely with Production, Quality and Sales to ensure the proper shipping, receiving and inventory of all materials and finished products. Thus, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.

Business is constantly evolving. Our ideal candidate would be someone that can take our existing line up, make improvements and look to expand our portfolio.

Some key aspects of your job include but are not limited to the following duties.

  • Scheduling daily orders and prioritizing shipments, noting packaging and processing instructions for the team.
  • Obtain quotes for Domestic & International freight and manage claims.
  • Manage returns and non-conformances.
  • Manage the Physical Inventory process
  • Use SAP extensively to
  • Post completed sales and consignment orders
  • Receive incoming materials and release back-orders
  • Manage the Scrap process
  • Work closely with our vendors to manage the waste and re-cycling processes and activities.

Purchasing

  • Responsible for vendor sourcing and setup.
  • Manage vendor relations
  • Ordering supplies for all departments.

Business Management

  • Work with leadership on business expansion initiatives.
  • Understand the existing capability and explore the addition of new capacities.
  • Set up processes for any new products added to the Houston portfolio.
  • Manage the new processes and assign responsibilities to the team as needed.

Supervisory Duties

  • Directly supervise employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, motivating, and training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ability to develop personnel and equipment to support present and future operations.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will meet the following:

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience in Logistics related positions.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High attention to detail and results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate/communicate and report across multiple departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain preferred.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Industry knowledge of Oil & Gas is a plus.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available.
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk or workstation.
  • Will need to visit the production floor regularly to look at the product at various stages as needed.
  • Repetitive tasks such as typing, filing, and data entry, which may require dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently.
  • Employee will regularly be required to lift and carry objects of 5-10 pounds as needed.
  • Employee will occasionally be required to lift and carry objects of 15-25 pounds as needed.
  • Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis.
  • This role is not typically exposed to adverse environmental conditions, except excessive eye strain.
  • When travel is necessary, will be exposed to typical travel environment and surroundings.
