Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to the following equipment and systems:

Refrigerors, walk-in and reach-in coolers, deep freezers, ice cream cabinets, ice producing machines, wer coolers, drinking wer chillers, smoke heers, heing, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, cold food trucks, air handlers including their blower assemblies, package-split and window air conditioning units, chilled wer chillers up to 50 ton capacity loced throughout the Medical Center. Also parts such as expansion valves, filter and filter beds, evaporor and condenser coils, motors and compressors (up to 480 volt, 3 phase) thermostic motor and safety controls, refrigerant controls, automic defrost controls, relays, motor overload protection, capacitors, motor starters, belts, bearings, blower assemblies, gaskets, hinges, etc.

Performs preventive maintenance to the above in strict accordance with the preventive maintenance program including the checking and adjusting of refrigerant levels, refrigerant pressures, refrigerant controls and temperures

Balance HVAC systems utilizing specialized air balancing equipment such as FPM AND CFM meters and hoods along with calculing and adjusting for proper flow.

Utilizes refrigerant reclaiming equipment to prevent the release of refrigerant to the mosphere.

In an emergency the incumbent will perform repairs to equipment, buildings and utility systems throughout the Medical Center as directed.

Familiarity and use of a variety of test and repair equipment such as: voltmeters, ohmmeters, ampmeters, pressure gauges, pipe threaders, soldering equipment, measuring devices, basic hand tools, etc.

Layout work, read and interpret blueprints, manufacturers' schemics, wiring diagrams, install equipment and systems, utilized maintenance and repair diagrams, instructions and be familiar with principles of mechanical, pneumic and electrical control systems.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Physical Requirements : Continuous stopping, kneeling, lifting, climbing, standing, bending and reaching is done in the course of a days work which results in prolonged muscular exertion. Incumbent is required to handle objects and merials weighing excess of 40 lbs. Operion of all power tools require alert and skillful handling.

Working Conditions: Incumbent is subjected to excessive he and cold times and is subject to possible cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, loud noises, etc. Work requires the use of overhead ladders, scaffold or plforms. There is exposure to oil, grease, use of solvents, etc. Much equipment is cumbersome and fixed which requires it to be worked on in place, in cramped quarters. In emergencies may be required to work outside in all weher conditions.

Certificion requirements : Possession of (EPA Approved) Universal CFC Certificion in Types I (Small Appliances with 5 pounds or less of refrigerant), II (High Pressure and Verify High Pressure Appliances), and Ill (Low Pressure Appliances), however, applicants who possess either Type l, Type II, or Type Ill considered for appointment. (Full certificion required within 6 months of appointment ).
