ABOUT THE POSITION

Project Manager | Hybrid | New York, NY

VHBs growing New York, NY office is seeking a Project Manager to join our vertical structures group within our multi-discipline engineering division. This position provides an opportunity to work on a wide range of engineering projects within the transportation, institutional, real estate, energy, private, and public sectors, while playing an important role in expanding and shaping our structural engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural engineering plans and specifications for projects within the transportation, public infrastructure, Industrial, Real Estate and Energy markets.
  • Support design calculations and quality control review.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEPFP engineers, geotechnical engineers and contractors to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Lead and manage project tasks for small, medium, and large-scale projects, from concept through construction administration.
  • Assist in preparing technical proposals and participating in business development efforts.
  • Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings to establish needs, resolve technical issues, and coordinate project delivery.
  • Review and prepare construction administration documents including submittals, RFIs, sketches, and field reports.
  • Support preparation of budgets, schedules, and scope documents.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff and help foster a collaborative environment.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of structural systems (concrete, steel, masonry, wood) and associated construction methods.
  • Experience with coordination among multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Construction management experience is a plus.
  • Ability to think critically and multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge of structural design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, RISA, spColumn, spMats, and ENERCALC, RAM Structural Systems.
  • Exhibits leadership skills and works well in an integrated service team environment.
  • Excels working in an integrated service team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage non-structural engineering projects as required.

Qualifications

  • 11-15 years of professional civil, structural engineering and/or project management experience required
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering, architectural engineering or related field of study required, Masters degree a plus
  • Professional Engineer license, or the ability to receive within 12 months.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $132,000-170,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
