The Project Engineer - VDC provides technical oversight, engineering review, and analytical support throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This role ensures compliance with schedule, budget, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, with a strong emphasis on Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes, including the use of Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD. The successful candidate will review and approve design specifications, drawings, bids, and contracts, while actively contributing to change management and progress evaluation. They will also play a key role in identifying project risks, developing mitigation strategies, and fostering collaboration between multidisciplinary teams.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and engineering analysis for construction projects from concept through completion.
- Review and approve project specifications, design documents, construction drawings, contracts, bids, and change orders.
- Use Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD for model coordination, clash detection, and construction visualization.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Facilitate collaboration and communication among stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of VDC/BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.
- Prepare and review technical reports, progress summaries, and engineering documentation.
- Stay updated on emerging construction technologies and regulatory changes relevant to the engineering and VDC space.
- Support the project manager in various project controls and coordination tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Engineering or related degree
- Minimum of +5 years of professional experience in BIM software and tools
- Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, ReCAP, Autodesk Construction Cloud is a must
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desired
- Experience with Dynamo or other automation tools is a plus
- Strong understanding of construction methods, project documentation, and regulatory standards.
- Proficient in construction project scheduling and monitoring tools.
- Advanced working knowledge of BIM coordination and model-based design workflows
Location and Commitments
- Overtime work may be required occasionally to ensure certain deliverables are completed on time
- Weekend work is rare but occasionally may be necessary
