A highly respected, 100% employee-owned engineering firm is seeking a Lead Design Engineer Transportation to play a pivotal role in advancing major transportation initiatives across Utah.

This opportunity offers strategic leadership on medium to large-scale transportation projects, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and high-level engagement with clients and stakeholders.

Lead Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and technical delivery of complex transportation projects.
  • Serve as a design authority, coordinating across disciplines to meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers.
  • Interface directly with clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders to align goals and maintain project momentum.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and other civil engineering fundamentals to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable standards and specifications, particularly UDOT and AASHTO guidelines.

Lead Design Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • Must have an Active Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in transportation design and/or design team leadership.
  • Proficiency in Bentley roadway design tools (MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, Connect).
  • Strong knowledge of UDOT project delivery standards and design processes (preferred).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
