Lead Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and technical delivery of complex transportation projects.
- Serve as a design authority, coordinating across disciplines to meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior engineers and designers.
- Interface directly with clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders to align goals and maintain project momentum.
- Apply advanced knowledge of roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and other civil engineering fundamentals to ensure successful outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards and specifications, particularly UDOT and AASHTO guidelines.
Lead Design Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
- Must have an Active Utah Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in transportation design and/or design team leadership.
- Proficiency in Bentley roadway design tools (MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, Connect).
- Strong knowledge of UDOT project delivery standards and design processes (preferred).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
