Job Title: HVAC Technician

Department: Campus Facilities
Reports To: Director of Campus Facilities
DESCRIPTION:
This position supports the Director of Campus Facilities in the day-to-day operations and preventative maintenance of campus facilities at a private college. The role includes maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, kitchen appliances, and mechanical systems across 626,970 square feet of building space and 69 acres of campus grounds. This is a hands-on, technical role responsible for ensuring campus systems and equipment are safe, operational, and energy-efficient.
Essential Job Functions
The following duties are illustrative and not all-inclusive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required. Work performed is subject to FLSA overtime provisions.
HVAC & Maintenance Duties
Operate, monitor, and maintain all HVAC systems, including steam and hot water boilers, chillers, and residential/commercial heating and cooling units.
Perform scheduled inspections, filter changes, lubrication, calibration, and cleaning of HVAC and mechanical systems.
Diagnose issues with HVAC and related systems and perform repairs as needed or refer to contractors.
Monitor and adjust the computerized Energy Management System (EMS) to regulate building temperature and system efficiency.
Prepare systems for seasonal changeovers and coordinate inspections to meet safety compliance.
General Responsibilities
Comply with all OSHA, EPA, and institutional safety guidelines.
Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies; follow proper procedures for inventory and disposal.
Utilize the Campus Facilities computerized work order system to track and report work completed.
Uphold college values including Integrity, Hospitality, Community, Servant Leadership, and Sustainability.
Participate in meetings and collaborative problem-solving for facilities operations.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Valid driver's license
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical plans
Proficient in the use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments used in HVAC, mechanical, and building maintenance
Strong verbal communication skills; capable of clearly presenting and exchanging technical information with coworkers, contractors, and college departments
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus-ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team and campus community is a strong plus
Effective multitasker with strong organizational skills; able to manage several projects and assignments simultaneously
Highly motivated and results-oriented; capable of working independently or as part of a team
Displays professionalism in appearance, attitude, and language; reflects a commitment to serving others on campus
Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and alignment with college goals and directives provided by the Director of Facilities
