The Role:
Oxfam Syria is looking for Protection Officer
The Protection Officer will be leading on the design and implementation of the Protection activities at hub-level, in line with Oxfam Protection guidance and SOPs. Activities include the Community Gendered Protection Analysis, Individual Protection Assistance/ Cash for Protection and Community-based or community-led protection, and Capacity-building activities. The Protection Officer will also maintain good coordination and integration with other Oxfam programmes, local partners and the Protection sector partners

In addition:
- Relevant degree in Law, International Law, Social Science, Political Science, or related field with good knowledge of International Human Rights Law.
- Minimum Three years of relevant experience in roles focused on protection, human rights, social work, vulnerable populations in conflict, post-conflict, etc or a related role within the non-profit sector (as Child Protection Officer, Human Rights Officer, Protection Case Officer, Community Protection Officer, Protection and Safeguarding etc) experience in NGO, or 5 years if not accompanied with the relevant education degree.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshop, training sessions and building the capacity of local teams and community members on protection principles, safeguarding, and complaint mechanisms.
- Knowledge of the context in the areas covered by the hub (Aleppo - Lattakia - Hama - Idlib)
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts, particularly handling protection work
- Demonstrated ability to lead, building capacity, motivate a diverse team, ensuring effective performance management and fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Experience working in remote, insecure locations, demonstrating resilience and a proactive, solution-focused approach to overcoming logistical challenges.
- Possesses initiative, patience, tact, and able to work with minimum supervision
- Strong inter-personal skills to work across teams and departments in the hub and CO.
- Proficiency in using office software (e.g., MS Office, Power BI, Survey CTO, KOBO).
- Fluent Arabic and English, both written and spoken is essential.
Desirable
- Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
- Demonstrated skills in report writing, data visualization, and presenting findings to various stakeholders.
- Previous experience in international NGOs in Syria
