Pay Type / Range:
Journeyman Union Scale. $46.61-$47.61 per hour (based on experience and/or size and type of equipment)
(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary: The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality production of asphalt materials according to project specifications and company standards. This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining the plant equipment, coordinating material delivery, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and supporting continuous improvement of plant operations.
Other Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References may also be checked. We participate in E-Verify.
Job Duties & Requirements:

Operate asphalt plant controls to produce asphalt mixes in accordance with job specifications and production schedules.
Monitor plant equipment and processes to ensure continuous operation and quality output.
Perform start-up, shut-down, and routine operational checks of plant systems.
Keep asphalt plant mechanically sound and reliable
Sign truck drivers in if needed
Maintain and order materials such as a/c and aggregate
Have mix ready when jobs are to start
Communicate with Pit/Loader Operator on daily needs
Communicate with Lab Tech on daily results
Stay in touch with Paving Foreman regarding job orders
Keep Truck Dispatch notified on any possible issues with trucking (no shows)
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant site, including housekeeping of control house, scale house, and surrounding areas.
Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or production concerns to supervisor promptly.
Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' of operating an asphalt plant
Must have High School diploma or equivalent
Basic computer literacy for plant controls and production reporting.
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs.
Must be organized and reliable
Must be knowledgeable of and experienced with hand tools and their mechanics
Ideal to have strong computer skills
Ideal to be bilingual (Spanish and English)
Ideal to be current member of Operating Engineer Union
High school education or GED equivalent.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and safety.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Strong team player
Reliable and on-time.
