Job Description

The main role of a Construction Manager is to plan, direct, and coordinate activities across various fields such as engineering, research and development, and financial systems, among others. This involves overseeing the integration of technical activities and ensuring successful project roll-out.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects by making detailed plans to achieve goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
• Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
• Recruit employees, assign tasks, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee staff competence development and maintenance.
• Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess project feasibility.
• Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
• Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
• Manage projects and coordinate with operations teams and general contractors.
• Evaluate design documents and oversee field construction for safety and quality.

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of experience in construction, data center construction, and project management.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
• PMI or PMP certification preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, as well as collaborate within a team.
• Knowledge of design and construction processes, quality control, costs, schedules, and other techniques to deliver projects on-time and under budget.
• Familiarity with construction delivery methods such as Design-build, Design-bid-build, CM-at-Risk, and Design Assist.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
• Proficiency in computer software such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Procore or similar PMIS, Microsoft Outlook, TEAMs, and OneNote.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is advantageous.
• Experience in Data Center Retrofit work is considered a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in West Des Moines, IA, with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, totaling approximately 40 hours per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $78.00 - $88.00/hr.
