The Senior Staff Engineer will travel to various PCA locations to support projects across the organization, both in manufacturing plants and paper mills. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, 5+ years in industrial paper and/or corrugating , or design engineering environment. This is a hands-on position, working side-by-side with the leaders, craft, and personnel to drive the projects to completion. **Relocation is not required but must have the ability to travel up to 80% to various PCA locations and reside in the lower 48 states
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain mill safe work practices, PCA and industry standards, and best practices during project implantation and commissioning
- Provide technical support to the PCA manufacturing operations including auditing of mill safety, maintenance and engineering systems
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Provide project management support across PCA facilities when and where needed as projects arise.
- Involved in developing business and/or plant capital plans.
- Assist with troubleshooting mill issues related to safety and production
- Develop plans, specifications and reports.
- Make actionable recommendations based on sound engineering judgment.
- Manage and direct engineering consultants, contractors, and mill staff
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
- 10+ years as Power System Engineer, Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Field Tech Support
- Paper Mill or Box Plant Experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence and persuade others, excellent organization and planning skills.
- Ability to manage and supervise PCA staff and contract personnel with a wide range of work and educational experiences
- Ability to work well with consulting engineers, local electricity providers, and local authorities having jurisdiction.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NPFA-70E, and Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Power study experience strongly preferred
- Installation experience in Variable Frequency Drives: Rockwell, ABB
- Installation experience in Process Controls: Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, PLC5 families; Siemens PLC
- Installation experience in GE Power System Protection Relays and set up
- Installation Experience in power distribution equipment at 15KV and 5KV levels
- Project Management Skills
- Motor and Power Protection Relay- Troubleshooting, Maintenance Start-up
- AC/DC Motors and Drives- Troubleshooting, Maintenance Start-up
- Servos and Servo Motors- Troubleshooting, Maintenance Start-up
- Excellent Communications Skills
