Hayward Holdings Inc. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lab Supervisor has development and qualification testing responsibility for products, components, systems and sub-systems. Perform hands-on supervision of engineering lab technicians performing R&D, product testing and competitive analysis. Works cross-functionally, and ensures that the highest level of design quality, integrity, and performance are maintained with strict adherence to all company policies and test procedures.
Responsibilities- Supervises, coordinates and prioritizes the daily activities of engineering lab technicians engaged in technical procedures such as reliability testing, product evaluation, and competitive analysis, in support of engineering research.
- Monitors lab test requirements and allocates resources to assure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Attend technical design reviews to propose testing requirements and schedules for completing testing for a particular project.
- Oversee the status of parts, equipment, chemicals, tools and related materials within the lab area to ensure maximum efficiency, including equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and shelf-life requirements.
- Maintains a professional laboratory environment general housekeeping, safety and good organization.
- Arranges for replenishment of supplies and equipment maintenance. Requests for calibration of equipment as required.
- Reviews and ensures accuracy and correctness of all required documentation.
- Maintains all lab testing history information for access by anyone needing to evaluate prior testing results and/or test procedures.
- Assists in the design, development and procurement of required test and measurement equipment.
- Devises or improvises, sets-up and troubleshoots experimental or limited run test activities based on documents, oral and/or written instructions.
- Pursues and maintains agency certifications or accreditations of the laboratory facilities.
- Develops and maintains laboratory practices & procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of the testing.
- Manage local field trial sites
- 5+ years experience in mechanisms, motor, pump, and pressure vessel design utilizing plastics.
- 2+ years supervisory experience preferably in a product-development and/or test lab environment required.
- ASQ CRE / CQE certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electric motors and their testing.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting abilities.
- Working knowledge of UL, ANSI, and CSA standards (such as UL60335, Ansi 221.56, and CSA B22.2).
- Working knowledge of NSF standards.
- Ability to develop product test criteria and equipment.
- Working knowledge of Quality Control/Assurance principles.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, disciplines and design for assembly methods.
- Proven problem-solving ability.
- Computer literacy in the use of presentation and program management software.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
Education / Experience : BSME or Polymer Science Degree Required
