We are currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Supervisor in our new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Milton, WI , conveniently located north of Janesville. This is a salaried role, working 8 hour day shifts, and reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

JOB SUMMARY : The Maintenance Supervisor leads and coordinates the activities of the maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment, utilities, and facilities. This role combines leadership, planning, and handson technical support to drive equipment reliability, startup readiness, and continuous improvement. It requires intermediate working knowledge of core industrial trades and systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and plumbing, commonly used in process manufacturing. The position owns CMMS utilization, preventive maintenance compliance, and MRO/spareparts inventory management to achieve the lowest overall cost of maintenance while meeting all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Success is measured through key performance indicators (KPIs) such as PM compliance, MTTR/MTBF, planned vs. unplanned work, and spareparts performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Direct, coach, and develop maintenance technicians; maintain a skills matrix and training plans to build team capability.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all maintenance activities.
  • Planning, Scheduling & Execution
    • Own the weekly maintenance plan and lookahead schedule; balance PMs, corrective work, and projects to minimize downtime.
    • Manage work order backlog, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion with accurate documentation in the CMMS.
    • Lead crossshift handoffs and ensure effective communication with production and other departments.
  • Reliability & Continuous Improvement
    • Drive PM compliance, root cause analysis, and reliability initiatives to improve MTBF (Meant Time Between Failures) and reduce unplanned downtime.
    • Monitor and report KPIs such as PM compliance, MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), planned vs. unplanned work, and spareparts performance.
  • Safety, Food Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all maintenance work complies with OSHA, LOTO, NEC/NFPA 70, and company safety programs.
    • Maintain SQF/GMP/MSS compliance for maintenance activities, including documentation, scheduling, and contamination control.
    • Verify contractor safety orientation and adherence to site safety standards.
    • Participate in or lead Safety Champions program and similar activities.
  • CMMS & Inventory Management
    • Maintain CMMS data integrity; ensure accurate work order entry, closeout, and reporting.
    • Manage MRO/spareparts inventory, including min/max settings, critical spares strategy, and cycle counts to prevent stockouts.
  • Contractor & Vendor Coordination
    • Source and coordinate contractors for specialized work; manage permits, scope, and quality verification.
    • Oversee service agreements and ensure timely completion of contracted work.
  • Controls & Automation Interface
    • Coordinate troubleshooting with Controls/Engineering; ensure all changes follow changecontrol procedures and are documented.
    • Prevent unauthorized PLC/HMI edits; escalate complex control issues to appropriate resources.
  • OnCall & Escalation
    • Participate in oncall rotation and respond to afterhours emergencies as needed.
    • Follow established escalation protocols for downtime and critical events.
    • Participate in weekend work rotation as needed (you will take two days off the week before or week after your work weekend to compensate for the additional days worked).
  • Budget & Capital Projects
    • Assist with maintenance budget planning and cost control for labor, parts, and services.
    • Support capital projects, including installation, commissioning, and reliability rampup of new equipment.
    • Report monthly results to Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular work attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Required
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in Maintenance or other technical field.
    • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in a manufacturing environment; food or process industry preferred.
    • Intermediate working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and plumbing systems; ability to read schematics and equipment manuals; familiarity with PLC/HMI/SCADA environments sufficient to coordinate troubleshooting with Controls/Engineering.
    • Proficiency with CMMS systems and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) inventory management.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, LOTO, NEC/NFPA 70, and GMP/SQF requirements.
    • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Excellent communication, planning, and problemsolving skills.
    • Must have acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred:
    • 4-year degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
    • OSHA 30, NEC/NFPA 70 training, or equivalent safety certifications.
    • CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) or similar maintenance certification.
    • Experience supporting capital projects and vendor management.
    • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) packages and AutoCAD preferred.
