Project Architect

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Project Architect, where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design and technical development of projects. You will be responsible for code reviews, adhering to project budgets and schedules, and managing significant aspects of larger projects. This role requires a strong ability to supervise and produce Construction Documents through CAD and BIM, as well as coordinate and ensure quality assurance of consultants' work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform code review and ensure compliance with project budgets and schedules.
  • Select, evaluate, and implement design components used in projects.
  • Evaluate existing conditions and formulate responses to challenges.
  • Supervise and produce Construction Documents through CAD and BIM.
  • Coordinate and perform quality assurance on consultants' work.
  • Conduct construction administration for select projects.
  • Maintain project files for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communicate specific project tasks to clients and team members.
  • Design and implement project scopes of work, ensuring compliance with schedules.
  • Manage between 1 to 15 projects at a time.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Revit is essential, with a strong emphasis on producing CDs.
  • Architectural license required.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in educational or public/state projects.
  • Technical experience in all phases of design, documentation, detailing, and construction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited program.
  • Experience in architectural project management.
  • Ability to lead and train junior designers.
  • Experience in public works and educational architecture.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and schematic design.
  • Participation in prospective client interviews and networking events.
Work Environment

The firm consists of 25 people, with an office located in Somerville, NJ. The environment is fast-paced and hectic at times, but also fosters a 'work hard, play hard' culture, including team outings, bagel Fridays, and happy hours. After 90 days, enjoy a hybrid work schedule with half-day Fridays. Engage in new construction work for schools and office buildings that require steel frame construction. Knowledge of building codes and public sector experience is advantageous.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance**, paid group life insurance, and short term
and long-term disability. You will be eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance upon commencement of
employment, and the balance of the benefits after successfully completing the 90-day probationary period.
Your PTO will accrue for the full calendar year as follows: 10 accrued vacation days, 5 accrued sick days, 2
accrued personal days, and nine (9) paid holidays. We offer flexible hours and a hybrid work setting after the
initial 90-day probationary period. SSP offers a voluntary 401(k) profit sharing plan as well as an employerfunded 3% safe harbor profit sharing plan; participation would begin after you have completed the plans
eligibility period of 1 year and 1,000 hours of employment.
Participation starts on the next available enrollment
date after the eligibility period.
