Zoo Steamfitter - Temperature Control

Hourly Pay: $45.26

Job Summary: The Zoo Steamfitter will maintain, repair, and install the equipment and systems that heat, cool, and ventilate the facility. This role is essential to meet building codes, maintain necessary standards, and prevent system failure.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Maintain, repair, and install both the systems and controls for air conditioning, chiller systems, heating systems, freezers, refrigerators, and ice making equipment.
• Estimate the costs of material and labor needed for jobs.
• Maintain a proper inventory of repair parts and tools necessary to complete commonly performed jobs .
• Read blueprints and construction documents to perform repairs and comment on proposed projects.
• Assist the engineering department during inspections of completed projects .
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Authorized to work in Wisconsin.
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• At least four (4) years of experience as a steamfitter.
• At least two (2) years of experience maintaining and repairing control systems.
• Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
• Basic knowledge of Metasys.
• Willing to learn MaintainX.within six (6) months of starting.
• Possession of a Refrigeration License.
• Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
• Willing and able to work irregular, unpredictable, or long hours when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a Steamfitter Apprenticeship.

NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
