About the Role:

As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and repairing building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What Youll Do

  • Perform maintenance and repairs across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, furniture, fire/life safety, and control systems.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems including air handlers, VAVs, split systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, and cooling towers.

  • Operate central plant equipment and monitor performance to ensure efficient operation and seasonal readiness.

  • Use building automation systems (Trane Synchrony) to monitor, adjust, and optimize HVAC and lighting systems; analyze data trends and resolve system issues.

  • Conduct daily rounds and inspections to ensure all building systems are functioning within design parameters and client expectations.

  • Repair plumbing fixtures such as toilets, faucets, valves, and sinks; inspect for leaks, snake lines, and maintain water heaters.

  • Replace lighting components including bulbs, ballasts, and fixtures; troubleshoot controls and repair outlets, switches, and breakers.

  • Maintain emergency lighting systems and UPS units to ensure backup power readiness.

  • Perform generator load testing, inspect fuel and battery systems, and coordinate vendor servicing while maintaining compliance logs.

  • Monitor solar system performance (if applicable), clean panels, troubleshoot faults, and coordinate vendor support.

  • Assist in implementing preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.

  • Respond to emergency repair needs and ensure timely resolution.

  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives; maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Safely store, use, and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with policy.

  • Maintain an energy management program to ensure systems operate efficiently and sustainably.

  • Apply deep technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions.

  • Coach team members, share expertise across disciplines, and foster a collaborative work environment.

  • Lead by example, modeling CBRE RISE values and building consensus across teams.

  • Communicate effectively, including explaining sensitive or complex information clearly and professionally.

What Youll Need:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Universal CFC certification is preferred. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.

  • Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
