Positions available for Arrangement Draftsman Learners with the ability to produce deliverables to support the development of products from design sketches, layouts and/or concepts, manufacture, assembly and test.
Department 469, Arrangements Design, is dedicated to providing a high quality overall design for equipment located throughout the ship for their customers by serving as the center of excellence for the overall design of numerous classes of submarines and special programs while fulfilling the Electric Boat and customer requirements & expectations. We ensure the location of equipment will meet all technical, operational, maintenance, sustainability, human engineering design, and safety requirements.
Additionally, we create future submarine concepts, locate stowage and lockers for on board repair parts and items need for the sailors to complete their missions, locate lights, provide illumination studies, create flow paths and removal studies, performing roles as system integrators for several classes of submarines and special projects. The CAD programs Arrangement Design uses today are CATIA, NX Team Center, and AUTO CAD. These programs allows us to provide downstream data to the shipyard for the production of the world's finest submarines.
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma/GED or Vocational High School diploma
- Less than two years of relevant work experience in a design related field
Preferred:
- Familiarity with design standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), military specifications, manufacturing processes and lean design/manufacturing
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting (portfolio) with Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- Knowledge of animation software (Blender, 3D studio max, etc.)
- Familiarity with NX or CATIA design systems
- Ability to perform design related math functions
- Good communication skills
- Able to speak publicly to present design work
- Desire to develop skills through on-the-job experience and continued education to advance in the design profession
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions and drawings (blueprints)
- Basic Understanding of roles and responsibilities of design
- Teamwork and collaboration ability
- Knowledge of Microsoft products
