REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 4 years of experience operating CNC equipment in a structural steel fabrication environment (non-negotiable).
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with Peddinghaus machinery (Anglemaster, Plateburner, Beamline) or similar structural steel CNC systems.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and squares.
- Solid understanding of steel grades, fabrication tolerances, and machining parameters.
- Demonstrated adherence to safety procedures in an industrial or shop setting.
- Strong problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in noisy environments.
- Valid forklift certification preferred; ability to operate overhead cranes is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training a bonus.
JOB DUTIES
Machine Setup and Operation
- Set up CNC machinery according to work orders and production requirements.
- Operate Peddinghaus Anglemaster, Plateburner, and Beamline for cutting, punching, drilling, and marking.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure accurate and consistent output.
- Perform test runs and program edits to verify accuracy before full production.
Material Handling and Feeding
- Load raw materials (angles, beams, plates) into machines using overhead cranes or forklifts.
- Ensure correct alignment and secure positioning of materials before processing.
- Remove completed parts and inspect them for conformity using precision measuring tools.
Quality Control and Troubleshooting
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and blueprints.
- Identify defects, tooling wear, or programming errors, and take corrective action.
- Maintain logs of machine settings, production counts, and quality checks.
Machine Maintenance and Safety
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Alert maintenance team of larger technical issues and coordinate downtime appropriately.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols including PPE, lockout/tagout, and machine guarding standards.
Collaboration and Documentation
- Work closely with Foremen and Supervisors to meet daily output goals.
- Communicate material shortages, machine problems, or quality issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and update tracking systems as required.
HOURS: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
WAGES: $23.00-$32.00 DOE
